一（s）替代詞功能。
1、 one常用來代替或者避免重複之前的某個名詞。
例如：
1）I am looking for a flat。I’d really like one with a garden。我正在尋找一個套公寓，真希望那裏能帶一個花園。
2）Can I have a melon----a nice ripe one給我來一個西瓜——一個又好又熟的行嗎
One的複數是（ones）
3)“I would like a pound of apples！”“我要一磅蘋果！”
“Which ones”“哪種”
“The red ones。”“紅色的。”
One（s）前面可以用冠詞。例如：a green one。，the one in the corner。
注意：如果沒有形容詞，冠詞a/an就不和one連用。例如：
1、 I’d like a big one with cream on。 我要一個帶奶油的大個的。
2、 I’d like one with cream on。我要一個帶奶油的。（不能說：a one with cream on）。
二隻能代替可數名詞，用one代替water、energy、bread、happiness、等詞是錯誤的。
